It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Weaver who passed away on January 27, 2018 at the age of 90.
Mary was one of the first female lawyers and is believed to be the first female partner in Northern Ontario. Mary came to Sudbury in the 1950s after graduating from law school at Osgoode Hall. She worked in the community and eventually joined Facer Shea as an associate in 1962. Ms. Weaver, for whom the firm is named, practiced in corporate and real estate law and was awarded the honourary title of Queen’s Counsel in 1979. She retired from the firm in 1995 and continued to be a fearless leader in the Sudbury community well into her retirement.
She will be dearly missed by all members of the community and especially us here at Weaver Simmons. We send our condolences to the Weaver family.
