Sarno v. Murphy was a hard-fought 3.5 week jury trial in the Ontario Superior Court, in which Weaver Simmons’ own Richard Nolin and Connor Mackay represented the Defendant. Liability was admitted by the Defendant well in advance of trial. In her Statement of Claim, the Plaintiff claimed $1.1 million in damages, plus interest, legal fees and disbursements. At trial, the Plaintiff sought damages between $450,000 and $550,000. The trial ended on June 19, 2019, with the Plaintiff recovering the net amount of $0. As a result, the Plaintiff’s claim was entirely dismissed.
